Tips to Become a Translator

Language is a communication tool that has been used by humanity for thousands of years. Since primitive times, humans have used language to communicate even though it may still be very simple. Over time and the ability of humans is also increasing, simple language is increasingly widespread, both in terms of usage and variety. In this modern era, almost every country has its own language. Different languages throughout the world show the development of human intelligence, but this is not without problems. One Czech translator obstacle that arises from the diversity of languages in the world is the obstacle of communication between individuals who are raised in different languages. These difficulties make some people interested in learning more than one language for ease of communication. Until finally, the ability to master more than one language became a new field of work, namely as a translator.

The ability as a translator is not an ability that only a handful of people have. This ability can be learned and mastered by almost everyone, even so, not everyone can become a good translator. A good translator has several criteria that must be considered, including:

Love of language
It is a common stigma that to be able to do a good job we must love what we do. Love of the language we learn is an absolute requirement for a good translator.

Good writing and linguistic skills
The ability to master more than one language must be accompanied by the ability to convey what is mastered in written form. Some people have good oral language skills, but have difficulty in writing ideas into written form. The more we write, the more we will get used to it, as the saying goes "can be because of ordinary" or " practice makes perfect". Linguistic skills are also a requirement to become a good translator. A good translator should have good linguistic or language knowledge, both in theoretical and practical terms. Linguistic knowledge can generally be obtained in college, but an education in linguistics at a university is not a fixed price to become a translator. Linguistic knowledge can also be obtained through reading books related to this field. Experience will also hone one's skills in the field of translation.

Extensive vocabulary
Every person is born with knowledge, but to have extensive knowledge one must learn a lot, one of which is by reading. A lot of reading for a translator is the main thing in improving the ability to translate. Translating an article from one language to another is not merely translating the meaning of the writing, but we also need to know the exact equivalent of the words in translating and pouring words into the target language dynamically and flexibly. With more and more reading, we will know various kinds of vocabulary so that when translating we can choose the right equivalent of words.

The things mentioned above are a few of the many things that must be had by a good translator.

Above all, the most important thing is that a translator must have the intention to continue learning. Language is not static, but language always develops with the times. The development of increasingly sophisticated technology today also makes it easier for translators to translate. One example of technological developments in the field of translation is 'Google Translator'. However, ' Google Translator' can be a double-edged knife for translators because although more or less can help the translation process, ' Google Translator'which is increasingly growing it is feared will replace the position of the translators. Therefore, the willingness to continue to learn and hone skills in the field of translation is absolutely owned by a translator. Machines like ' Google Translator' may be able to have 'knowledge' that is equivalent to humans, but will never replace the passion and sense of language that humans have.
